    A. Pius, denarius and pieces of bronze, maybe Aes Rude or Aes Grave?

When we're discussing Aes rude, my question is always: "Is it Aes rude, or is it just a rock?" LOL

Looks like random bronze bits to me, such as decorative pieces or just other 'artifacts'.

@galba68.....Your ears must've been screaming with the 'ping' on those chunks of bronze!....Be interesting to see how the detail on some of the pieces clean up?
    Interesting day out...

Very interesting bronze artifacts. I guess they could be just about anything.

Nice pieces, thanks for sharing. It is hard to tell if bronze metal (aes rude and cast pieces) was money, raw material for for metal working, left over bronze items or votive items. Please share the cleaned pics.

Aes Rude vs just a rock is pretty easy. Metal detector responce is different.
Bronze, Copper, iron and their alloys have a SpGr of 7 to 9. Pure Gold is 19. Rocks are only 2 - 3. It is easy to tell that difference.

Yes, I was joking. Even metallic "hot rocks" do not give the same kind of signal.
