Hi I found this dime in my change and need help if this is a error coin or post damage? I am very new to this and I been trying to figure this out by researching info on the internet and that gets to be a little frustrating and confusing when your a newby to collecting error coins I hope the images I attached are ok Any help is greatly appreciated Thank you
Holy die crack Batman! More like a shattered die! Looks to be SHD-10c-2007P-05R or one of the similar ones from cuds-on-coins.com http://cuds-on-coins.com/shattered-dies-on-u-s-dimes/ Great find! @paddyman98 @JCro57 @cpm9ball @Seattlite86 Check this out!
Thank you very much @furryfrog02 it does look exactly like that dime in the link you sent me This is awesome Now is this shattered die worth money? And should I get it graded I believe is the right term?
Worth money? Yeah. How much? I honestly have no clue. I could only find one shattered die dime that sold on ebay recently. It wasn't like yours. It sold for $75. Getting your coin graded would probably cost more than the value of the coin itself. The guys I tagged know way more about errors and values than I do so hopefully they can chime in and help out.
Thank you very much for your input and responding I know much more than I did and hopefully I will hear from any of them you had mentioned to find out more
Interesting, but I'm reserving comment until we get some better photos. It kinda looks like glue. Most likely from the lighting. @Jarksmyworld can you snap a few more please?
And it looks like another line or die break coming off the major one thru the bottom right flower or leaves thru the middle of the torch just under the double bands I just saw that with these pics
They're leaves. No flowers on there. You've got an olive branch on the left and an oak branch (note the acorns) on the right.
Thank you it definitely is a neat find and yes I am blaming the flowers or leaves comment late night brain fog ....lol I do appreciate the correction and your input
Thank you I am just thrilled to finally know it is an error coin and what type and awesome finds on your 2 dimes
As a hotel night auditor in the middle of a graveyard shift (I'm about to take my 4:00 AM "lunch" break right now), I can assure you I know all too well about "late night brain fog"!
@Jarksmyworld the coin is cool, and a great find. I was just confused at what looks like details in the die break. Edit: thanks to @furryfrog02 for the tag and detective work!
Thank you @mikediamond I googled asymmetrical split die straddled by a retained interior die break and some die chips to learn more about this coin error and they had a image of the 2007 P Roosevelt Dime reverse side identical to mine which was so cool to see I have one question my dime was also identical to the image of a shattered die break that I googled when furryfrog02 had responded to my post, how is that possible? I apologize if this is a dumb question, I am just that much of a beginner to error coins and coin collecting I am trying to understand that's all And would you know how I can find out what it's worth as well?
