Thank god I’m in New York and the banks around here are very friendly I have 2000 in half’s coming this week. But your right the picks have been slim. I did a few boxes last week and found a few 40 percenters one walking liberty and quite a bit of NIFC’s. Either way I enjoy it. I love half’s and quarters. Quarters are great Because I can look for silver, W quarters and error coins so a lot to do lol especially in these boring grim times. Stay safe

Well, whatever you do, don't dump there!

In my experience (from 5-10 years ago), lightning like this doesn't often strike twice in the same place. I've never come across a situation where someone repeatedly dumped rolls like that -- at one bank, they told me the guy was coming back with more, but he never did.

What this does tell you, though, is that there are some tellers at that bank who aren't in on the game, and won't save the rolls for themselves or another preferred customer. That's valuable information, and yeah, it's probably worth going back.

    Congratulations!

Coin collecting can be fun. When I was about 12, I was at the Canadian National Exhibit in Toronto and I got a 1858 U.S. quarter in change. I still have that quarter and it is still not worth much. Later on, I found a 1901-O quarter in change at a local bowling alley. It is worth somewhat more than the 1858 one. When I went to work, some of the guys were big Jefferson nickel collectors, specifically 1950-D and maybe 1938-D if I remember correctly, and everyone was searching for 1909-SVDB Lincoln cents, I never "found" any of those, but I did find a 1909-VDB and my wife bought me a 1950-D Jefferson nickel. I still have those coins which by themselves, do not constitute much of a collection, but it's been fun.

I have in the past ordered two boxes of halves. Once got about six rolls of 90% and some 40%. Even a few proofs. A bank close to where my daughter works, has a guy come in each month and pay his bills or deposit only the halfs. The teller said that he had inherited a bunch of them. I think he still does, but I have not been up where she's working lately,

I'd be sending her on monthly errands, at least until I figure out whether he was really unloading an inheritance, or just dumping from his own CRH.

Does it bother you that they might have been stolen from someone's collection? I'm not saying it should, just wondering how you feel about that possibility.

Does it bother you to think about the places all the rest of your money has been and the things it's done?

I never really thought about that and I would hope that this isn’t the situation. But unfortunately there’s no way to know. I didn’t buy them off the street I got them from a bank so all I can do is enjoy them and keep them safe myself

I got into CRH because a buddy of mine bought a box of halves and it turned out an employee had been hoarding silvers in the vault ( the manager did not know that when she sold my friend the box. He is a very serious collector and he bought 3 coins he needed for his collection. He sells to other collectors and he sold a number of coins to them. I have no idea what he profited but it was healthy.
Myself I’ve found a number of 40% and 90% coins with the oldest an ‘07 Barber half. Sadly I haven’t seen a good half in over a year.

Let's face it, the life-long coin collectors who accumulated silver US coins in change back in the day are slowly passing on and their collections are being handed down to non-collectors. Some of these collections are worthy of being consigned to auctions or sold to LCS dealers. Many are probably looked at by spouses and offspring as "loose change" and cashed in at the bank for a quick buck. I'm suggesting that CRH activities will be MORE lucrative now and in the future than they were for past few decades. Congratulations on the half dollar score!
