After reading about future quarter series, coming across this article was a pleasant surprise: https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/house-approves-2021-morgan-and-peace-dollars Would absolutely love to own some 2021 Peace and Morgan dollars. Sure hope they release a set similar to the 2014 Kennedy silver anniversary set like the article mentions.
Has this always been the case when new production exist. Under the proposed legislation, the price of each 2021 Morgan dollar and 1921 Peace dollar will carry a $10 surcharge. FYI ON GOLD No discussion disclosed how many Morgan gold dollars might be produced under the Mint’s alternate proposal for the Morgan dollar recognition nor which dies would be used.. CC Gold Morgan...
Well..... I am an occasional purchaser from the mint. I do happen to love the high relief Peace dollar and will be in line to get me one or two of them.
It would nice to see the 1921 High Relief Peace Dollar design fully struck. I hope the new coins don't end up like the gold version of the Mercury Dime. It didn't even have full bans
Count me in! I bought several nice PCGS 1921 Morgans to put with them. Those 1921 Peace Dollars are expensive. But, a man has to do what a man has to do.
The high prices on the 1921 dollars is a recent phenomenon.I just wish I had bought several more than I did when they were relatively cheap.
My only concern is that this will be another 2006 San Francisco Old Mint Proof Silver Dollar Commemorative.
Count on the mint making them impossible for most collectors to get. Why do they have to be made rare to be interesting? Make a bunch of them and let every collector get as many as they want.
@chascat says that they're already sold out. To my recollection, I have yet to see anything from the various dealers that send me emails almost daily that would indicate that these are even coming. And only one of them makes mention of the soon to-be-released silver eagle with the V mark on it. Mezak is claiming that he will have new coins on New Year's Eve...but at what kind of price? My spouse and I will have to leave the parties early, so that I can be here to see this momentous event!
I hope the 2021 morgan looks closer to the pre-1904 variety; I might buy two and have one as a pocket piece.
The best thing for the hobby would be for collectors to ignore these special releases and let the dealers, lobbyists and House and Senate supporters, live with the expensive toys. But, there are too many that see dollar signs in flipping and/or are afraid they may be looked down upon by their peers because they missed one.
The Mint has shown how much they care about coin collector. $3,000 for a Palliadium (sp?). Gold is closing in on it as well. Even a crappy gold coin is being sold for about $2,500. We won't have a chance to get the WW II coins, gold or silver. Now, what about the Mayflower coins that are supposed to come out at the end of this year?
