    First I want to thank everyone for all the help they have been so far. You have helped me learn quite a bit in the short time I have been here, and I appreciate you all taking the time to answer my many dumb questions I have had. Now for my next dumb one
    What exactly would this be? Is is a die chip or something else? Oh ya this is a 2008 P Arizona Quarter

    Thanks
    Dave

    Looks like a retained cud to me. Value? No clue, but one of the smarter people on here should know.

    And a die break to the rim?

    #1:
    Small die break to the rim;
    #2: Die chip.

    No cud, that would have to involve the rim.

    Die CRACK to the rim, with a die chip filling the space between the cactus arm and body.

    That's a large die break a nice error and the doubling on the letters are die errosion, and there's not much value unless you get some person on ebay to buy it a couple of bucks the most

    I wasn't worried that much about the doubling as I have learned that it was more than likely Die Deteration and was nothing. from you all. What I was wondering about was the Die Chip, I honestly didn't even see the Die Crack until it was pointed out.
    Thanks again everyone.

    Ok now for a even dumber question. If you look back at some of the older coins, IE Peace Dollar- They have a variety number for just about every Die Crack they found and or find on these coins, yet on the Moderns they don't mean anything at all? I am really confused about this.

    Thanks Dave

    For awhile they did assign different VAM numbers for die cracks. They don't do that anymore since the cracks do not in themselves indicate different dies or die varieties, but rather different die states. A die crack can be used to identify a particular die variety, but you have to remember that that variety may exist in an earlier state that does NOT have that "identifying" crack. (If John was seen at the party then he almost certainly was there, but if he wasn't seen he may still have been there.)

    Die cracks and chips are just normal wear and not a error.

    That really did clear it up alot at least for me. Basicly the same concept of Schroders cat.
