This is an old coin that I found as a young boy about 55 years ago, can someone please help me to identify it. I've been trying on the internet but have had no luck. I'd like to know what country it's from and any history you may have about it, also if it is worth anything? I greatly appreciate any help that you can give me. This is my first time sending photos I hope they are OK. Many thanks....TonyC

From the Wild Guesses & Long Shots Dept. :) Seems to be a Spanish piece. The inscription in the upper picture is FERD(inand) VII D(ei) G(ratia) HISP(aniae) ET IND(iae/iarum) R(ex), ie. Ferdinand VII by the Grace of God King of Spain and India/the Indies. That is about all I can tell ...

It is a Spanish Philippines copper octavo or quarto depending on size (17-18 vs 21-22 millimeters) minted between 1771-1835. The date is at the bottom below the lion and it should have an M mintmark for the Manila mint after the date. Eight octavos, or 4 quartos, equalled 1 Real and 8 Reales equalled 1 Peso.
