Hi everyone, Well I found this yesterday using my trusty Laser Rapier here in the U.K. I just thought I'd share it with you as I've never come across a coin that was turned into a ring before. I must admit upon unearthing it I thought it was a connector off a pipe, even though it wasn't brass ! Well your brain does funny things when you find something good, it tries to make you think it's junk ! I've probably posted this in the wrong forum, for which I apologise ! Hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoyed finding it
Go to YouTube and search "coin rings", or just google it, or search Amazon, et all. They've been doing it forever ... and they'l use *any* coin. I have a friend who'll take 1oz American Gold Eagles and convert it to a coin. Or Morgans, etc. He converted a walking liberty half for me. Coins have been used in "arts" probably ever since the first coin was made. When my kids were young they'd use coins to make all sorts of stuff with glue, drills, hammering, etc etc etc. I'm amazed when "coin collectors" don't understand that coins are things that can be cheaply used for crafts.
I recently bought a continental dollar ring. Yeah, it was a copy hammered into a ring but it looks awesome!
I'm pretty sure many of the ones you can get now are cast rings designed to look like they're coins made into rings.
