    Hey guys

I was wondering if you could help me I came across this coin while going through some quarter rolls. It has a complete silver rim as if it was a silver coin but i thought the silver ones only came from San Francisco? Any ideas ??

It was plated by someone after leaving the mint.

Very weird though I weighed it compared to a 1999 silver proof quarter and they weighed the same 6 grams

Does it weigh 6 grams, 6.0 grams, or 6.00 grams in your scale. There is a big difference. A 1999 silver proof quarter weighs 6.25 gms. A standard quarter weighs 5.67 gms. If your scale only has resolution to 1 gm, then both coins will weigh the same at 6 grams.

Your coin was plated after it left the mint. Ever since the state quarters started, people have been plating them with gold, silver, and who knows what else. Then they sell them to unknowing collectors as "valuable heirloom collectables". It looks like somebody finally got the true value from it when the spent it at face value

That is correct...and tens if not hundreds of thousands of silver plated ones came from the TV coin sales hucksters.
