Bentsen $100 notes were rarely seen for the longest time. The ones in the scan on the previous page were each found at different banks. I just found the A-A today in point of fact. Small face notes are still surprisingly common. It's just we have a perception of their being rare because tellers usually inhibit their circulation by withholding their distribution. They are kept in their mute piles as they are brought in for deposit and quietly shipped off as unfit and summarily destroyed.

This past Wednesday I went to a bank. As I was waiting in line a teller brought out about $30,000 in hundreds. Through the glass partition I could see an old hundred on the back of one of the straps. I could see another on the front as she flipped the strap over. Curious, I walked up to ask if she was going to be opening her window. I could see a 1993 F-B Bentsen on the top of one of the other straps. She said she was closing.

I suspect there were a great many old hundreds in these straps. Not withstanding the high amount of face value, I would have loved to have been able to go through them and see what was there. I could tell the old hundred I first noticed was considerably older than the '93 Bentsen I saw on the top of the other strap due to its noticeably darker green color on the back. Such is life, though. One can't save everything due to one reason or another, unfortunately.

This is the closest I've ever come to finding a complete ladder before. It'd have been nice to have found this as part of an uncirculated 100 note strap but I can't complain!

Here's another close one. It'd have been great to have picked up the uncirculated strap that this note originally came in from the BEP but it's still a decent find.

    Nice finds!
I found a 1988A star $1 in a strap yesterday. I'll post it this evening.

Sure it’s a common run, but it isn’t every day that you come across a 20-25 year old star note.

Even though it's from a common run it's a good find because like you say 20-25 year old star notes don't turn up everyday or anything. I've found $1 1988A E, G and I stars but not an F star before myself.

That's amazing! Very nice finds! How did you find the coins- in a roll, or were they in the bank teller's coin tray?
I never thought that someone would use a silver dollar at face value.

Actually, they were in the tellers tray. The bank manager asked me if I was looking for silver, and then grabbed the other teller off her break to get the coins for me. It's unheard of and I don't expect it to happen again, but I'm still pretty stoked!

I picked these up at a bank inside of a grocery story today. It's a nice mixture of notes with some being consecutive. In fact, this lot includes notes that are among the nicest old fifties I've found before. Now the thing is I can't justify keeping them all. Notes with wear, pen, and stamp marks are obvious spenders but this will still leave notes that are in pristine condition.

I can add one or two to my collection but that'd still leave some nice ones leftover. Oh, well. I'll figure it out. I also found a 1950 dime in a Coinstar inside of the store with the bank (along with $1.27 worth of other coins).

Very nice finds! Definitely keep the notes with ending numbers 22, 26, and maybe 33. I wouldn’t regret spending the bills with a pen streak and stamp.

I found this $20 yesterday. Interesting that it’s an A-B block.

I looked at all of the notes in good light today and the 21 as well as the 1990 B-B and 1993 B-B are all just about in pristine condition. Based on the most recent printing dates of late 1995, I'd say these notes were all stashed away in early 1996 sometime and only just recently rediscovered and deposited at the bank that I found them at. What I will do at least for the short term is trade the nicest ones out from the lot with other notes I've had stashed away that are in poorer condition.

Today I had some good finds that almost didn't happen. I went to a bank to trade out some $2 notes that I bought yesterday. I planned to ask for $100 bills in exchange but as I was waiting in line I observed as a lady deposited $1000 in ones. By virtue of blind luck I was called over to the same teller after she was done.

I inquired about buying them from the teller; she was happy to sell them to me. Among the notes was a 1963A G-*, 1969D L-B and a 1988A L-G:

I only found one '63A last year and it happened to be a B-*. Series 1969D notes only turn up once or twice a year, typically. The '88A is a kind of bonus as it may be a new block. I will have to check. So if I had come in five minutes later I wouldn't have seen the lady deposit all of those $1 notes, I wouldn't have asked to buy them, and I wouldn't have had these cool finds to share.

Found this recently. The series 2013 $1 Minneapolis I-B block was a partial run of only 3.2M notes printed. Only one example has been graded at PMG.

I bought a full $2000 worth of $20 notes from a casino today. I don't take stats on higher denominations very often but this is what is comprised of the 100 notes that were bought:

    2004-3
    2004A-2
    2006-8
    2009-16
    2013-58
    2017-13

    Star:

    2006 IE-*

    Highest block:

    2013 ML-P

The high block stands out as unusual to see. Prior to Series 2013, you have to go back to Series 1990 to find blocks for $20 notes that made it this high.

Not in a strap but the teller saved this '34A for me.

I wish I could post my bills. But I ended up having a fight with family and they spent my 60s-80s 1 dollar bills. :)

I bought two $100 straps of ones from a bank on Friday. I just went through them tonight.

    Strap one:

    1999 B-*x1
    2009 H-*x1
    2013 H-*x2, K-*, L-*x2
    2017 K-*x3, L-*x1

Eleven stars in total. A clear collector liquidation.

    Strap two:

    1988A E-Bx1 (CU condition)
    1988A L-Ex6 (CU and consecutive)

    IMG_0034.JPG

This second strap was quite unexpected. It is quite a rarity to find uncirculated 1988A notes in circulation.

I'm not sure if the finds from the two straps are related but I'm going to go back to the branch in the morning and buy $600 worth of ones. If I get lucky I'll be given more bills from the same source and have some more good finds.
