Picked up this nicely toned 1967 Israel 10 Lirot, “Victory .” A common date, but really pretty toning in hand—almost bronzed on a Silver coin.
It is Morgan Dollar sized. Israel has some really beautiful Silver coins, and they are quite affordable.
Nice coin! Funny that you posted this, i was just looking at these the other day for the first time. After i get this morgan set complete im going to look into some of the "silver dollar" like coins from around the world (i like my coins large lol). You have a few top of mind outside of this one i should look at?
That is what I am doing. I collect Silver “Crown sized” coins from around the world. 5 Francs, France 4th Republic, 5 Marks, Germany—1880s to early 1900s, 500 Pruta 1949 Israel, British Crowns—5 shillings, New Zealand and Australia Crowns. I call them the “37-39 mm diameter club.”
Thats awesome! I have the exact same interest. Are you going after sets or just nice specimens, etc.? Generally speaking, are they all less expensive then morgans? Also, are they all silver? I will look them all up this weekend. Also, if you have a recommendation on best one to start with. Thanks!
