Um, how much of my life story do you want? We could go back to one particularly memorable English prof, when I was finally goaded into completing my undergrad degree, in the later '80's. She was from an urban midwestern, working-class background, and liked to divide the prevailing demographics on-campus between those who were, and were not, 'born with a silver mouse in their mouth.' ...This while I was suddenly confronting computers, starting with word processing, for the first time in my life. (Will always be grateful to the profs who let me hand in fair copies of papers in ...wait for it... manuscript.)
But to cut to the chase, I have a land line. And have been holding out on getting a cell phone until it formally becomes an act of treason not to. ...The technology demonstrably does not like me, and so far, I've been happy to reciprocate the sentiment.

Getting a bit off topic, but I don't have one, either. I love computers, and I love the internet, but I don't want to be connected to it 24/7; I want to be able to get away from it. I don't want to be in a position where anyone can call me any time of day or assume I read their email and text messages 5 seconds after they hit "send". I don't like the government being able to track every place I go (which they can do even if the phone is turned off, BTW,) or everyone I talk to and how long I talk to them.

My land line, desktop computer and email accounts are all just fine, thank you very much.

    Fantastic sestertius Romancollector!

As I see it, a cell phone is used for making calls, and a camera is for taking pictures. If I want to get a good photo with [1] the result will be about the same as if I try to make a call with [2].

Antoninus Pius sestertius with reverse of Antoninus riding in quadriga, struck AD 145 - 147. Picked it up from CNG e-auction.

Considering the kind of calls I get on my phone I decided not to answer any calls from someone I did not know and did not want to talk to. I bought that camera phone for my convenience, not someone else's.
