1986 D L.C. Cud or Extra Plating? at nose

    This is an extra layer of plating at the nose. Is it classified as a cud still?

    That's a lamnination error as far as what i see in the pics.That is not a cud a cud hugs the rim and looks like a big blob

    Maybe a bad planchett & lamination too.Joe is right a cud is on the rim of a coin

    It is a Lamination piece but from another coin! The piece apparently became separated from the host coin (probably the previously struck coin), was stuck to the Obverse Die then got pressed into this Cent where it remained.

    Cool, thanks for the input. I just found it about an hour ago. It is not in great shape, but you can see the error.

    for the record, a cud MUST include the rim, or it is just a die break.

    The Snow 16, 1857 cent might be the exception to that.

    If these year coins were plated, how can it be a lamination peel?
