Antoninus Pius Bronze Dupondius

    I "overpaid" for the following, but I'm not upset about it. The natural light below really doesn't capture what I can see in hand with the contrasting surface. Missing some of the legend and some polish marks but still a keeper:

    Date: A.D. 151 - A.D. 152
    Denomination: Dupondius
    Obverse: IMP CAES T AEL HADR [ANT] - ONINVS AVG PIVS P P left up, right down: Head of Antoninus Pius, radiate, right
    Reverse: COS IIII left up, right down| S C: Antoninus, togate, seated, left on curule chair, crowned by Victory, flying left; he holds globe in extended right hand and roll in left

    @IMP Shogun ....Sweet coin!...I really like the dark and light contrast which brings out the detail especially the hair and crown on the obverse and that lovely flying victory.....
    You like the coin so you didn't overpay!.....One of my favourite emperors...
    Here's my Dupondius with a very different patina.....
    Antoninus Pius. 138-161 AD. AE Dupondius (11.76 gm, 25.3mm). Rome mint. Struck 154-155 AD.
    Obv.. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P XVIII, radiate head right.
    Rev.. LIBERTAS COS IIII / S - C, Libertas with pileus and sceptre standing left.
    RIC 933....BMC 1469. gVF.

    By overpaid, I meant I bid more than I wanted and there are more common Antoninus Pius coins that are still missing from my hoard. He has quite a few silver coins that I like including those provincials (my next purchase is of the Hadrian variety and likely in silver).

    Please feel free to post any coins of A. Pius (or Hadrian!)

    Obv: ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P COS III, laureate head right.
    Rev: ANNONA AVG S C, Annona standing right, between modius and prow, holding corn ears and out-turned cornucopiae.
