Can you guys help me confirm or deny that this is a Type 3? From Variety Vista it looks like RDV-003. Sorry about the photo. I tried many and this was the best.
While not being a Ike collector, it seems to match the type 3, as @furryfrog02 has already indicated.
I always go to this site to explain the three reverse types of the 1972 Eisenhower Dollar: https://eisenhowerdollarguide.com/1972-eisenhower-dollar-varieties/ Happy coin collecting. I just cherry picked a nice High Au/ low MS at a flea market from a dealer. Happy most dealers don't do varieties or read books.
I buy them at the bank all the time and still have difficulty with the variations particularly the type 2. The Ike's are fun coins and able to purchase at face
If you don't mind me being a completely uninformed noob, what are the rough valuation differences between the three? Thanks in advance. Searching fleaBay is NOT helpful as you can find $1,000 examples across all three types. Z
PCGS shows the following at MS-65: Type 1 $125.00 Type 2 $1300.00 Type 3 $120.00 The type 2 has a variety that MS-65 jumps the book value to $2850.00
The largest discrepancy in prices for Type3 vs Type 1 are in AU and lower graded coins. For example PCGS shows AU58 Type 3 is $20, where a Type 1 is $1.
