Here is a 1946-D it is graded. I had it grade 8-10 yrs ago.I send in thing it was a D/S and it came different. Can you tell me what it is
Well that is machine doubling a good indication, because the mint mark is also doubled and shelf like .I think there;s a little bit of die deterioration doubling also i see some orange peel effect nearthe date a clear indication of die fatigue sorry jello Jazzcoins Joe
lets see: you had it slabbed and it isn't the D/S, but it was designated. Hmmmmmm.. okay, I give up. added thought: RPM # 67,895?
It looks like it may be an RPM-018 "D over D East"! However, there seems to be something going on with the Date besides the Machine Doubling. There is extra thickness as well as the Machine Doubling and possibly could be a 1946-D "DDO# 1" Cent that also has Machine Doubling. Frank
2b1ask1 Found it! There a Population of only 4 at ANACS .NGC & PCGC I have not checked . I send to www.coppercoins.com so Bob would have some photos of it,they had the type listing but no picture of what it look like. some times a goof up work for you this one did.
Wow you were lucky Jello I hate to say it that is a wrong .Whoever atributed this was stoned or had good drugs , I would say that is machine doubling and die deterioration doubling on the date and mm. What company graded this and atributed it may i ask I indicated in red some areas of die fatigue. I want to point this out if you notice on the mm there;s doubling on both sidesof the MM, a clear indication of die fatigue ,and the bottom portion of the 4,also notice the orange peel effect south west of the mm another indication of Die deterioration Doubling. An usually when a coin exhibits doubling on the date and mm it's more likely that it;s not a RPM rather die fatigue or Machine doubling and i think this is the case. I would say that is not a RPM Jazzcoins Joe
Jazz, It is apparent that ANACS graded and certified the coin! They may have not been the one's that attributed the coin but they agreed with the attribution as it is noted on the slab. Although ANACS is not perfect, they are 100 times more reliable to be able to grade, certify and attribute a coin in hand than someone trying to do the same from pictures! Frank
I just mail it as my 5th coin back then. I was glad that just grade MS-64 Red but a RPM-10 to boot!!!! some time luck is better that skill. http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/1946/1946d1mm010l.jpg
Yes you are correct ,but what i'm trying to say when the date has machine doubling or die errosion most likely the mint mark would be effected too ,that's what i'm implying ,and it seems like the mint mark is no RPM. I didn't say it was a doubled die. Well it;s just an opinion Thanks Jazzcoin Joe
