I got mine from the mint in the sets and ungraded. I have all 3 also.

I got mine in the mint and proof sets "free", per the US Mint.

Mine were also "free". The only reason I got them is because they are part of my son's birth year coins. If it had been any other year, I wouldn't have purchased them.

Not silly at all, collect what makes you happy.

FWIW, the 2019 proof and uncirculated sets can still be bought through the US Mint and include the W-Lincolns.

I've got two sets actually one I put in airtites, and the other I kept original, stuck in the paper envelopes it came with, and tucked both away for the next eternity,

Experiment to see which tones first.

I received one with a mint set and another by chance. Our local Numismatist states that the coin is nice to have at MS-70 but anything lower will become common later on. I have one of each and I'm satisfied for now.

I agree with his assessment, except for the mint state one that came with the uncirculated mint set MS68 or MS69 seem to be the average while MS 70 are very few and far between. twice as many MS68s as there are MS69s also. the proofs are all MS70 Deep Cameo and common enough with a few thousand examples from the TPGs, there is no shortage on either proof version to a point the PR69 or PR70 is common.

Just the one coin of the 3, I think will have decent value in MS70. the uncirculated MS graded one. the rest sell less than grading costs. Even at $50-$100 I think they are asking too much for the Proof 70s.

Likely the same situation for this years W nickels.

I got them "free" & sold the sets minus the "free" penny. Have now included them in my regular Lincoln cent collection in two Dansco albums. Includes all brilliant proofs from 1936 to date. Would like to purchase some matte proofs, but pocketbook says otherwise. Will keep looking though.

One way or another, everyone had to "buy" them. The US Mint didn't sell them separately and none were released for circulation. The only way to get the W mint marked Lincoln cents was to buy the sets (Silver & Clad Proof, Uncirculated) as a different finish "free" W cent was included in those sets. Or you could have bought them individually on eBay, LCS, etc. :)
