Those answers are often found at the beginning of a thread that has had several views but no replies. I guess sympathy plays a part so the OP doesn't feel excluded from this wonderful crazy train
Yes you really do need to Hey.. If Peter Davis created this website with the little faces available to be used.. Then we should use them! .. There shouldn't be a problem to do so! Peace
The only time I might post something like that is if a serious question has been asked and no one has responded for some time (like five of six hours) and then only to let the OP know that his post has been seen and that he is not just being ignored. Other than that, if I don't know the answer to the question, I don't post.
There is a "Watch thread" link at the top of every thread, FYI. Those posts remind me of the Q&A's on Amazon where people ask something about a product Q: "Does it work underwater?" A: "I don't know. I display it in a cabinet in my den"
"Oh Lordie ( as my mother often said with 5 sons ) don't get them riled up!!" We do have a few people who overuse them and then everyone complains.
I get irritated when the title doesn't tell me anything. Picture this: 2 posts of 20 total blurry, out of focus, poorly lit photos. Title: "??? do i hav somthing???" Seriously, how is anybody supposed to help in a situation like this?
I usually don’t post if I can’t add something useful. Or i can’t add anything nice. I try to be tolerant of the pmd damaged error coins though I’m pretty blunt - damaged worth face value spend it. Sometimes I watch threads I want to learn from too.
This reminds me of my pet peeve: those that read the first post of a thread then immediately post a response without reading the rest of the thread. Their response is either redundant, a duplicate, entirely off subject due to subsequent responses/information, etc. Just reminds me of taking my dog for a walk...it sees something interesting, takes a quick sniff and then pisses all over it, never to look back. me too.. Like on Amazon when someone posts a question about an item and there are answers that say "I don't know".
I teach graduate level courses at the local university (PAC 10 school). I encourage students to contribute something, anything to the conversation to keep it going. This is especially true in these days of Zoom courses. It proves to me they are paying attention. Even if their contribution is "I don't know".
I got an education on that subject in American History class. My Grandmother was a DAR Officer & retired teacher. Ditto for my mother. I knew most of the book with a quick reading. Fellow classmates were tired of my hand going up first. I stopped being first Both a letter grade and comment were given each marking period Mine was B+, needs to participate more All As before that My mother was dumbstruck Just picture the next few classes Mr. Heister had to tell me, in class, to let someone else answer My mother chuckled about that for years
