This was part of a collection I inherited in December. Here is what little I know about it. German medal commemorating 100 years of the Olympic movement, coinciding with the Atlanta Olympics 1996. Some base metal with golden colour. Supplied in a air-tite and in a see thru plastic flip with the suppliers name on it, and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. Anyone knows more I would be very grateful.
Very unusual. I live in Atlanta and have never seen an Olympics commemorative piece that was produced out of country. I suppose being international, all participating countries are free to produce officially licensed items in their native tongue, but this is the first I've seen. Z
Some interesting brass or bronze tokens from visiting the US Mints. One each from Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco . Z
A small silver medal from the between war period, presidency of Von Hindenburg. I'm quite fond of the St. George and Dragon on the reverse.
Here's some of my prized Tokens and some that aren't so "prized" at all, but they still caught my eye anyways! The 7th pic is a genuine brothel Token and shell coin, meaning it's completely hollow!
Here's a few more! One of these days I will get organized with pics of all my Tokens, that said, it's easier said than done! The Grant Medal has a really nice die break! The Greene Cigar Token is a shell Token as well but it's made of card stock and it's double sided and as thick as a Morgan Dollar!
And a few more! The Green River Whiskey watch fob was made by S.D. Childs & Company and they're a little bit scarce nowadays!
That's funny! When I was a youngster my Grandfather had given me some pictorial Tokens which I thought were really cool! Anyways, I had a small collection of them at the time, then I got ripped off when I was in my early 20's which really felt bad as they had sentimental value to me. My Grandfather had passed away in 1963 so I was devastated! Well I replaced the ones that were stolen from me and decided to collect a few more. Not sure how many I have but I have quite a few. I guess you could say I'm a bit addicted to the hobby!
Okay, here's one I'll bet you haven't got . . . . Diameter matches that of a US Silver Dollar, smooth edge but precision tapered, precision engraving matching the taper, calibrated in both English and metric units, but favors the English. It has a utilitarian hole through the planchette, that's not "PMD" or after market modification. Unknown material, but is thought to be unobtainium . . . Z
I have one of those, not the exact same one and not part of my Token collection but from wrenching years ago! Didn't have a Morgan tho', here's a couple of pics!
My attempt at a little levity, doncha kno . . . . Y'all will figure me out. When you do, please tell my wife how to deal with me . . . I got no idea . . . . Z
I'm on a 'new' exonumia kick. This just arrived today. I am quite excited about it and have a few more coming in early next week. I need to get better pictures of the token out of the holder. This is the best I have. EDIT: better photos added. Z
