On my coin there is a monogram for Heraclius on the left of the M and numerals for 10 and 5, total 15, on the right of the M. Your lower-right coin has numerals for 10, 6 and 1, total 17 (626/7).

Spectacular portrait that is NOT what I expect from a Byzantine coin

I have a similar Phocas Solidus from Carthage. Some of the better portraits of Phocas came from the Carthaginian Mint in my opinion image0.jpeg

I just got this Byzantine bigg'un from a FB coin group virtual show a week ago. It's just SOOO big! 44mm in diameter! It nearly covers up my recent Carthage 15-shekels completely, though it only weighs a quarter of it at 21.2g.

I guess its time for a Byzantine. The last one I posted was classified as a 4 Nummi from Alexandria, but was really from Carthago Spartaria. Here is a 6 Nummi that is actually from Alexandria...

    Byzantine Empire: Heraclius (610-641 CE) Æ 6 Nummi, Alexandria (Sear-864; DOC 200; MIB 211)

    Obv: Large S
    Rev: Palm tree with dates

Anybody pick up any Byzantine coins during today's CNG auction? As usual, the prices were pretty strong, especially Bendall's collection...

Bid on two but failed to aquire. I was shocked on final price of both of them.
I did get one from the last auction, i had to have one of Simon Bendall's coins.

Especially rare examples and coins in great condition. Indoor Hobbies with collectables normally slow during the summers, this year , with most people staying put the market never slowed.

Wonderful examples, imagine what price these would command on the market right now.

Also from Bendall collection. I thought I posted this already, if yes sorry about that.
If not, well here they are. Don't bother looking for them in DOC, nor Hendy or anywhere else that I know of.

I was really surprised I won this lot.

Lianta also references the coin as Sear 2494. I bought an awful one years ago.
