1880-O is this a VAM47?

    I'm diagnosing this based on the centered mint mark and the near (or very near) date. There's also very mild die cracks that indicate that this would be an early state of the VAM, if I'm seeing it correctly.

    1900-o a1 16 near date or very near date.jpg 1900-o a1 01.jpg 1900-o a1 02.jpg 1900-o a1 02a lower to check for 0 in denticles.jpg 1900-o a1 03 mintmark.jpg 1900-o a1 14 mintmark with a hint of CC.jpg

    There are die cracks that run through the tips of both wings, and veer up sharply towards the edge as seen on the VAM-47:

    I also took pics of the arrows looking for doubling, which would have put this in the VAM-46 camp (maybe) but I see no sign of doubling on the arrow tips. 1900-o a1 15 arrows to check for doubling.jpg

    D'oh!

    Yeah, I'm not sure why the thread tools disallow edits so quickly. I routinely fix typos that are a year+ old on other forums and miss the ability to do so here.
