Ok I have seen the term attributed used a few times. Can someone please explain what this really is, and what type of errors are worth sending in to have this done to them. Thank you very much Dave
Depends on the coin and the attribution. So for example - attributing large cents can help you get an idea of the rarity. So you might have a 1797 in VG shape - might not be worth the slabbing fees for an r1(rarity 1) variety, yet for an R-5, 6 and 7 it would be worth the slabbing fee. I think it really depends on the coin, the condition and the variety. For something like Morgans the TPG'ers typically only do the top 100 VAM's or varieties.
OOOps - variety and errors are not the same to me. An error to me is something like an off-center coin, while a variety comes from a certain die or die pair for that particular series.

Any that are collected by die varieties , such as Vams on Morgan dollars , Overton # on Bust halves etc. And ancients , but I'll let one of our ancient collectors tell about them . rzage
