In an older PCGS holder, if that matters. I'll try an figure out the VAM later.

I’m not bold enough to guess if it’s pl unless it’s in hand. That’s a nice coin, I’m going to go 65.

It looks like a 66 but could be MS65 in an older holder.

Not great pictures. From those, 65. Simply cannot tell if it is PL from those pics.

Honestly too hard to tell from the pics. They are too bright or overexposed.

I'll see if I can get some additional pictures. IMO it looks slightly better in hand than the pics I took captured. But, it's only a fair GTG with a variety of lighting levels and angles to consider.

Also, is there a way to tell when a slab was created? Other than general ranges of dates due to the style of holder? I mean, does the initial series number on the slab indicate when it was assigned?

In these pics, the scratches on the obverse at cheek, chin, and cap all seem to be on the slab, not the coin. And the cheek discoloration in one pic is a reflection from my pants, not a dark spot on the coin. The frosting on the reverse, likewise is on the slab, not the coin.

Last pix my side me guess 64+ up unless the scratch is on the we case. I'm not familiar with the old/new cases.

There isn't a way to get an exact date, just a range based on the holder generation.

Still a bit of time to get your guesses in. Here are some closeups of features that may help nail down the VAM:

    There are some raised dots just above the tips of the arrows on the reverse: 1881s a2 03 raised dots above the arrows.jpg 1881s a2 05 doubled uNum.jpg 1881s a2 06 doubled pluribuS.jpg 1881s a2 07 sTates.jpg 1881s a2 08 staTEs.jpg 1881s a2 09 statES.jpg 1881s a2 10 above the arrows.jpg

There's doubling on various letters of "United" in United States. The I in particular, has a noteworthy chip in the upper left of the cap atop the letter.

    65, not PL. I don’t collect VAMs.
