How to develop the feeling for what is authentic

    I know some novice collectors might not have had the chance of developing the skills of what is authentic and what is fake. I can say in 80% of cases if you have seen enough coins, you can see a fake from image alone but in 20% where the coin is suspect you need analyze in hand with a loop. Look at these coins so you get a feeling on how real coins look. Notice the real patina on Vahran and abbasid coins, notice the luster in Ardashir coin, notice the flow lines and patina and traces of luster in Hadrian. If you don't see these in a coin stay far away. These are few of my over 500 ancient coin collection and you can see how picky I was in hand picking a coin that is authentic and has features of what an authentic coin should have.
