that is english. verdigris has a field that it impacts if it is around not necessarily on coins do you know about it?
I Specifically remember a few posts where the royal gold collector was posting poor mans coppers, the money of the masses. And I do belive he liked them.
Some folks think 43 steel cents should not be stored with copper cents because it causes problems for both. Keeping moisture away is always important. Any coins that have the problem should be removed from the rest. I feel it will jump from coin to coin. My thinking is probably old.
What do you mean by strength and radius of the field ? Are you asking how far away another coin has to be to be considered safe from possible contamination from another coin that has verdigris on it ? If so, I have no idea. But if the coin with the verdigris is stored separately from other coins then you have nothing to worry about. And when I say stored separately I mean in another container all together.
i have seen verdigirs jump 50 metres. you can laugh if you like and no not from other coins but from a chandalier so i want to get to the bottom of it. i have even seen it on metals such as steel and silver truly evil times
Spock when you speak of "field" do you mean specific metals or distance or what? An acidic ph causes verdigris.
well think of star trek and the shield barrier thent hink of verdigirs and an infection barrier any coin that falls within this barrier will catch verdigirs sooner or later. now her eis the problm the other coins may nt be a source of the barrier. lets say you dont have any coins infected witht he disease and you place your coin on a table above the table there is a chandalier and the chandalier is infected there is a chance that the coin will become infected i am trying to dig deeper into those scenarios
Verdigris is not an airborn disease, its a disease caused by exposure to air. And the sheild barrier would be an impervious plastic container with no atmosphere inside.
then how does it from coin to coin ina closed container with no direct contact between the coins. i would like to belive what you are saying but air contaminated with verdigris plays a part in the infection i am just not sure how much and i cant run these experiments here maybe ill go meet some curators in the museum and see if they are game. if anyone wants to run an experiment with some ordinary lincoln cents let me know. if you live near a sea or ocean its even better
I probably shouldnt have said "disease" caused by exposure to air, but corrosion. Its the high ph in the air and the raw metal together and over time you get that corrsion. I dont think it jumps from metal to metal, I think its both metals being in the same atmosphere. Check out this web site maybe it will help you to understand what im trying to say. Also I hear Biox Conservation Gel is what museums use to combat this problem. I hope I have been of some help. http://sca.livingpast.com/verd.html
i know you are trying to help but no one till date has been able to solve the green gui problem in a good way. either the coin gets altered or the goo stays i am trying t come up with a soltion that will banish verdigirs 100% rather than cure it ill go check the link thanks.
