Maybe a dumb question here but that's okay, wouldn't be the first one! :D I bought a really nice Kettle Token back in August and it was supposed to be delivered on August 23rd! It's stuck in limbo per the tracking #. I never got it so I had to request a refund, refund received today! :cigar: Anyone ever have that happen?

With this year just because something hasn't moved in a couple weeks doesn't really mean it's necessarily lost. I've seen several things disappear for 2-3 weeks and then reappear when a trace was initiated

But yes I have had a package legitimate get lost/stolen before

Give it until the end of the month.

I shipped a package August 10th. Was supposed to be delivered in 10 days or less. It didn't show ANY tracking updates in the USPS tracking system because it was heavy and not shipped Priority mail. It showed a label was printed and that's it.

Buyer bitched to Ebay and PayPal about non-delivery. PayPal took his payment back from me and refunded him.

TODAY I get this email, 31 days after shipping. Fortunately I can contest the refund on Monday when this damned thing shows delivered.

When you contest it make sure to call and talk to someone. You could actually get the case reopened now with a tracking update recently and they'll give it more time. I had to do this a month ago. If you don't talk to someone though the system generally just automatically rejects you

This year mail is hectic. I had a package missing for 4 months and one day it just showed up. Not even a tracking update.

I hope that happens to me as I really want the Token! :phantom: What's really messed up is I've done business with the seller before so I know he's straight up but you can tell the package is at minimum, stuck in the ozone layer! :D I've already gone to the PO, they took my name and number and said they would research it. I don't have high hopes tho' but you never know. I too have had a missing package show up a month or two late, so it's not impossible at all! :cigar:

I sent a package from Texas to Minnesota. It took longer than normal and the tracking said it was still in route and would be late. It finally made it.

I had an 1877 cent go missing. I found it weeks later in the flower garden next to the front porch.

Never had a package stolen by USPS. I have had quite a few disappear on UPS from my office..... What the other have said are correct. The US mail is under a lot of pressure right now. I have had two coin shipments disappear for weeks on end then finally show up. A fellow here on CT who is with the post office looked into it for me. There were mail containers in my city that the post office didn’t have the manpower to sort. My coins did finally arrive. But right now there are some holdups and we have to be a bit patient.

With as long as these shipments are taking, their facilities must be stuffed to the rafters by now.

Oh, I forgot to mention. When I stopped by my PO, the counter mail man told me something was wrong with the tracking number itself. He said, it shouldn't have even been tracked into their system as it wasn't one of their numbers. That's the only information he gave me but he said, it's supposed to be in this building as that's the last place it was scanned at. When I saw the "ALERT" and they couldn't produce my package, I gave it a few more days. Is there a limit, like wait 30 days or what?? If I get the Kettle Token, I'll pay the seller back but I have doubts! :(

Funny (NOT), I'll have to dig up two separate e-mails where the USPS told me the EXACT same thing - invalid tracking number. "Somehow", one digit from the middle of the number got "dropped" in my reporting. I keep PDF's of EVERY shipping label I create. I sent them a PDF, and then attached a JPG screen shot of the address and tracking number because "sometimes" PDF's are flagged in the USPSemail system as "forbidden file attachments."

I have never had a JPG get bounced.

So they said a some other carries number got into their system? That's almost certainly someone just brushing you off

No, they just said something was wrong with the tracking number and it shouldn't have been accepted by their scanner. That said, once I saw the ALERT, I figured there would be problems as I've never ever received an ALERT before. All my packages have been delivered except this one, some have been late but delivered.

I'll just say good luck at this point, no reason to try and help posting from my end.

Must be their standard CYA response, that sucks! :D At least this is their first loss as far as I'm concerned. Considering I've been getting ebay packages since 2005 that's not too bad! ;)

Oh a well crystallized spessartine-garnet in schist specimen that I ordered a year ago but I never received it. Weeks later on my house security camera, I found that somebody stole it

I've been on eBay since 2000. Never had an item stolen. But I had some items take long, weird routes. I have a Morgan Dollar in the mail right now, it went to another city in my state, way out of the way for instance.

I've had a few items hung up in a regional distribution center for a while. They eventually broke loose and I received them.

With expensive coins, it can be stressful when the order gets hung up.

THIS is why I started having ALL deliveries go to my work. I work in a 12 story building, dozens of businesses, we get a dedicated mail truck and sometimes two or three FedEx,UPS, and Amazon trucks at the same time. One day I saw three FedEx and one Amazon truck in the loading dock. UPS couldn't get a spot.
