From an uncirculated set minted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Same thing but this one was minted in Denver, Colorado. Do they still produce this for Mint sets?
I believe the last ones used were in the 1999 Mint set. Starting in 2000 they were no longer included. Some links below...1998 has it, 1999 does too, 2000 does not, 2001 doesn't either... https://mintsetguide.com/1998-mint-set/ https://mintsetguide.com/1999-mint-set/ https://mintsetguide.com/2000-mint-set/ https://mintsetguide.com/2001-mint-set/ And the general website where you can see all the sets: https://mintsetguide.com/ Edit....quote from article about 2000 set: "Starting with this year, the mint tokens which had previously been included in the sets were eliminated to make space for the new $1 coins." And the 1999 set still had the tokens because the Susan B. Anthony Dollars were not included (they were minted later in the year-after the mint set had already been released).
I'm a collector. These are struck at the Mint and no one wants them. I've got one with a clip and on with a die break. Sad thing is, if you told me I could have a million dollars if I could find them in 24 hours, I would know better than to even try! I've got a storage room in TN, and three in FL. Also just moved into a house. The fun is anytime I unpack a box, it's like Christmas. I opened a trunk that has been locked for fifteen years and I'd love to share its contents (I won't) but I forgot I had some of this stuff and some that I knew I had but thought was stolen turned up too. Crazy. I guess I am more like a clean-freak hoarder.
I have a few in mint sealed sets but these were loose in a cigar box full of tokens. About 6 or 7 of each Mint.
Interesting that you should post those. I just ran across these in the hoard. I kinda like them as well. Z
I just posted a new thread with the center one. Notice the D mintmark in the same place as on the Lincoln Memorial?
Would they be errors or varieties, though? Lol https://www.cointalk.com/threads/the-most-legendary-error-ever.365998/
