WOW! And look at that price tag too. One beautiful Carson City dollar.

Lovely! I was looking through some of Heritage Auction's upcoming Simpson's Collection auction last night. Some exceptionally lovely and astronomically priced coins there as well - including a few Seated Liberty dollars, if memory serves.

For those who may not want to click a link, but are curious; head to HA.com. The main page currently has a link specific for this upcoming Sept 17th auction.

So did you buy it? Does it look as nice as the picture? At the moment I'm boycotting buying Seated dollars off of Ebay. Actually I'm not buying any coins as prices are too strong right now.

Beautiful coin. Unfortunately dipped white at some point but at least not overdipped

While that is one sweet coin and worthy of a premium, no where near the MS63 range. Despite a mintage of 3170. Heritage last sold one, same grade, for $15,275 in 2/15. The highest sold was $19,388 in 2014.

I might add that Heritage has been getting some very high prices in their actions of late. Therefore this asking price might even be more out of line than the initial research suggests.

Yes the coin has a P-L, cameo look, but it does not blast the price into outer space unless it’s noted on the slab label.
