    Thanks @Finn235 The kind words are appreciated. Thanks also for posting that wonderful Clavdivs Cistophorus. What an amazing coin. The Flavians copied many reverses from earlier emperors.

    @Finn235, your cistophorus is the one that made me sit up. Not only for the temple, but for that very distinctive visual take on Claudius. Especially as early as this reign, I really like how the Roman portraiture might have corresponded to New York, while what was happening in Asia Minor corresponded to, what, Silicon Valley. Frankly dumb metaphor, but there you go. ...And, meanwhile, the entire eastern Mediterrannean would have been awash in All of this (Merely, and For One) Hellenistic precedent.

    The coin arrived last week but I only just got around to taking a new photo. In this case the coin arrived and it was in better condition than the seller's photo would have one think.
