yes indeed it is a very nice BIE. The only comprehensive guide available is by Jean Cohen, "errors on the Lincoln cent". It is a great, fully illustrated book. Unfortunately though it is a rare book, only 1000 copies ever made, all autographed hardcovers. Sometimes this book goes for up to $600 in mint condition. I own one, and HIGHLY recommend it.
Your $600 book should show you that a BIE cent error occurs when the die area between the B and the E of LIBERTY breaks out, resulting in what appears to be LIBIERTY. The tail on the E of the OP's coin is too big to be a simple after-mint displacement of the lower bar of the E. It is most likely a die chip radiating from the E.
jon67 hit the nail on its head! jon67 is right it is not BIE. it is a die crack on the E. BIE are just like his photos
Hey Isaiah are you sure your book is not a counterfeit? Don't get mad I'm just goofing with you. :goofer:
that's not a BIE variety if you want to call it that it's just a simple die chip like condor said ,that's all nothing to get excited about. jazzcoins joe
I didnt read page 2 but if it hasn't been said. The first coin in the thread is not a die chip or a "BIE" error of any kind. It is a damage that moved metal on the E ...that's it. Thanks, Bill
