washington type reverses

  1. would anyone have a photo, or link to a photo, of the a, b, c type reverses on washington quarters?

    Yikes. Tough question.

    I don't believe they exist anywhere identified as such and available on the net or in a book. There is also a type "d" and dozens of sub-types. (more than 12 anyway). In later years there were design changes almost every year and frequently old dies or proof dies were used concurrently with the new dies. Many people will be surprised when they find how many different Washingtons there really are.
     
  4. well i was looking through breen last night , a little light reading :p , and saw there were three for the transition from 64 to 65. something about the leaves touching the a and r in quarter. the photo they used was entirely too small. just trying to find a better photo. did not know about dozens of dies, yikes!! :eek: i do not think i have that much time for die varieties.

    Don't despair. Many of the differences are very dramatic and there should be a book or two out before too much longer.
