Thrilled to say I've just ticked off my eleventh of the twelve Caesars in silver(ish) It's so interesting to me that it has been broken. I envision an innocent dupe whom was unwittingly handed the coin earlier in the day, having the local pubs bartender notice something off about the coin, snaps it, and then upon having been proved correct, snaps the poor dupe out of his barstool and into the street! (though in all likelihood in this scenario it should be the counterfeiter getting popped. That these were made with official dies tells us it may have gone all the way to the top!) Thats such an obscure coin. Makes you wonder if it could've been a local damnatio or a cancellation by the Roman government.

I do not know who made them but I do believe that there are as many fourree denarii of Claudius as there are solid ones. Part of this I would attribute to people melting the good oneswhen Nero started debasing the new coins. The most recent full silver denarii would naturally be skimmed from circulation in short time. Mine:
Here's a fourrée Caligula denarius, which would be quite nice except for the big hole through it Obv. C CAESAR AVG GERM P M TR POT COS - Bare head of Caligula right Rev. I dont own any fourees (that I am aware of that is...). But due to the wear, I got a pretty good price for my Claudius denarius
