I think mintages were generally lower than earlier years, survival rate was lower, and the survival of MS Morgans was significantly lower than earlier times. 1892-1895 were particularly affected by this phenomenon. 1896 also, but to a lesser degree.
Here are the mintage figures for 1891-1897. As one can see, Morgan mintages dropped way off of the multiple millions typical of earlier coinage. There is some recovery in 1896, but many of those dates are still not easy, as survival rates were much higher earlier, due to bank hordes, prior to the Pitman Act.
