Just ran into this article on Academia.edu. By a faculty member at the Fitzwilliam Museum. He's written a ton more; never heard of him before; should have, https://www.academia.edu/8734358/Kings_and_Coins_in_Medieval_England_Henry_III?email_work_card=title
Thanks for sharing the article @+VGO.DVCKS that was a really good one. For anyone interested in medieval English coins, I can't recommend highly enough the following book by the article's author Richard Kelleher. Voided long cross pennies was an area of Plantagenet coinage I used to over look, but starting about 4 years ago really became interested in. They offer a lot of variety, wife range of mints and moneyers, and are budget grinde friendly for all but the great rarities. Here are some of my favorites.
Tres cool, on all fronts! And there's your new one of Carlisle! About to look for that book; never heard of it, either. It looks like there are no pics of my long crosses, but this is cool, a page from Matthew Paris (very contemporaneous) on the adoption of the type, with a little picture in the lower corner.
Great posts. Here is an introductory book I like very much https://www.amazon.ca/Englands-Striking-History-England-Hammered/dp/0948964855
Thanks Lots! Put the book on my Amazon (I know, I know...) wish list, along with The Red's recommendation.
