What's the problem with this Comm?

    I suspect that in hand, you might be concerned because you don't see any flow lines.

    The fields almost look porous as if it's a cast counterfeit...but the pores are very small so it could be damaged to the surface of the coin. I think you would have to have the coin in hand to really tell. My guess is surface damage due to cleaning...but I won't rule out cast fake.

    I don't see anything that makes me think the coin is not genuine, but it does appear to have luster problems which means it was probably over dipped. What is that depression behind her shoulder?

    Off the top of my head I'd say it's been dipped to death to remove very heavy black toning. And now the the effects of the corrosion caused by the toning are vissible.

    That and the pit on the child's side have made me think this could be only one thing.

    Ok it's late. I bought this thinking it was a cast copy years ago.
    Zero luster and as Doug said it looks dipped to death.
    I see no other way to explain it. The color is my poor white balance.
