NGC MS-64. Merry Christmas to you, too.

MS63 because of scratches on obverse: neck and damage to "D" in Dollar on reverse, otherwise desireable coin as any 1928 Peace Dollar is in any grade from AU55 and higher.

I would also say MS-63 due to scratches on neck and in field. Still a very nice coin for a Peace dollar.

I'd have to go with MS63 also because of the marks on the coin. Still a beautiful example of that year.

I'm going higher than the gang on this one. MS-64. She's a beauty.

I agree with MS64. Very tough to see the luster with those pics. With the exception of the large distraction on the eagle's tail feathers, the marks are very minor. Nice coin.

    Isaiah,

Put down the eggnog buddy. The population of the 1928 Peace Dollar in MS65 is 304/13. Every one of the 13 are MS66.

There is a "but" on the coin.

I completely understand anyone that guessed 63 or lower. Blame it on my photographic skill. NGC gave it an MS64.

The coin has a "but" on it. It is an MS 65 but it has the scuff disturbing the luster on the obverse field. In my opinion, without the obverse scuff it would have gotten 65 even with the single reverse contact mark on the eagle’s tail. The obverse is the money side & has fewer flaws than perhaps these photographs indicate.

The photos of the complete slab show how the coin is really flashy and the white slab plastic remains dark in the photo(s).

Thanks for all the opinions & have a great holiday weekend.

    Very best regards,

I guess that it is just me, but for the life of me, it looks like it has PVC damage throught the "TED' and below the "LAR" on the reverse. If that is not what I am seeing, can someone please tell me what I am seeing there?

It's possible, dunno what it is. But I would say that if that coin had been anything but a '28 I don't think they would have slabbed it.

Because of the damage on the neck?

No, because of the damage on the eagle's tail.
