Why no on the middle one?

Unless these are certified by NGC, PCGS, ANACS, ICG, or MCCS, or they have a well documented pedigree that you could show documentation of, then I still say their all counterfeit.

 

I think they are all genuinely ugly if that helps.

 

Second one - Obverse, the shape of Liberty's face isn't right, chin, jaw, mouth and forehead are wrong. The ribbon end should point directly at the 1 in the date. The first star should be closer to Liberty's bust. Reverse, the eagle's mouth is shaped wrong. The left end of the scroll should be between the E and D, not below the D.

Of course, there are 21 Overton varieties so someone might well show that I'm wrong, but overall, the coin just doesn't "look" right.

 

You can say what you want, but you are wrong.

An example of your logic:
Unless you can show me proof that just becuase a coin is slabbed it is authentic, then I say all coins are counterfeit.

I'm going to say the first one is counterfeit. The fields look a little porous too me. The second one definitely looks odd and my first thought is it's the fake, but that seems to obvious. Plus, the Barber just doesn't look right.

So, I'm going to say the Barber is the counterfeit.

 

I'm goin' with the first one also. The star at the top of the eagles head on the rev. is supposed to point straight up, is it not? The star between the s and t of states is not properly oriented. The rest of the stars on the rev. look wrong also. ......I am wrong, just looked it up in Breen. T2 rev..... Now not sure.

 

IMHO, the 1914 Barber Quarter is real, the 1834 Capped Bust Half Dollar is fake and the 1827 Capped Bust Dime is real!

Of those three, the bust half appears to be counterfeit.

Why? That's a very interesting question.

The third coin, the bust dime, has a wear pattern consistent with those that I've seen.

Again, the first coin, the Barber quarter, is consistent with previous examples I have encountered.

The bust half, though, has the overall appearance of multiple counterfeits I have come acrosss. It just looks dull. The details are weak, and the wear pattern does not appear consistent.

I would be extremely surprised to hear if the second coin was not the counterfeit one.

The middle one is a glaring fake, although I would tend to lean towards contemporary fake... if so aren't some of those quite collectible?

 

I'll say #2 is the fake.

but today with China pumping out fakes,not one person here is a certificated grader. buy only TPG graded coins & a seller that will back what they sell!

 

I would say the barber quarter is the Fake. The RIM seems to be wrong to me, Especially around 7 o'clock on the reverse and the denticles from 3 -7 o'clock. The 1834 half looks like a DUG coin and the dime is just plain worn out........................John
