99 cents? That's truly a bargain. Thanks for sharing!

Wow. Nicely done. I like the heptagonal shape and the flying fish.

No, this is the uncirculated and not proof. So 141 pieces is the mintage. Even at 459 it would have been good. I do have a decent collection of proofs including this one and can share a picture of the proof if anybody is interested.

If this was an American coin with such a low montage the price would have been loke 99 thousand

Problem is there are probably 10 collectors of modern Barbados coins. So low mintage doesn’t mean much.

    Does FM mean Franklin Mint?

Yes, FM does stand for Franklin Mint.
Actually not a problem at all because finding coins like this is not necessarily for investment and frankly, I don't give a rip if there are only 5 or 10 collectors (I daresay however there are a good deal more and you will see if you put a 1984FM proof set of Barbados up for sale on the 'bay).
The fun is in the hunt and finding these. I have some extremely high end coins, but I enjoy these every bit as much or more for that very reason. I also like the design and execution of many of these coins.
Here's a fun one: how about you select ANY USA coin of your choice, and I'll even let you go up to Five whole dollars (if it can't be done for ONE dollar) and let's see which most on this topic or these boards would rather have. In other words, a challenge.

Just received two error coins for 99c each.
Placed a much higher bid on ebay, but no one else bid. Amazed.

Unique and of high value to error collectors.

No need to get defensive. My point was that small mintages don’t mean much if the collecting base is also extremely small.

I mean, for Pete’s sake, Barbados has a population of fewer than 300,000 people. That’s smaller than Wyoming. I’m not saying only Barbadians collect Barbados coins, but the largest collector base is usually in the country in question.

I agree with that last point except that these are IMO attractive coins so that they attract collectors like me.
But I also like Trinidad, Belize, etc. These FM issues are quite interesting to study and collect and have drawn me for some 40 years with breaks here and there. To find inexpensive little bits is quite enjoyable...
Which does not detract from my main interest in British later milled copper and silver.

My comments about mintage were Targeted to the “wow, low mintage” commenters early in the thread, not you.

I’m well aware of your main collecting interests - given your presence here, at PCGS, and on predecimal forums.

Here is one I purchased for a buck,
and no offense but I would rather have it than your low mintage coin.

None, I like it! Maybe there will be some other posters. I will say that these Guatemala silvers are all very handsome if a bit more available (366 posted on Ebay right now).
My favorite is the 25 centavos, but this one is beautiful.

I dare say, just posting it here on CT will triple the number of collectors.
