Hep with identifying roman coin

Hi, i have recently found this coin while metal detecting, if anyone could tell me what roman coin it is it would be very gratefully appreatied

Good luck. All I can barely make out is part of the radiate crown.

 

This should be moved to the Ancient forum. I have no idea.

 

Put it in water for a couple of months and brush it.

 

Possibly one of these countless imitations of Tetricus I/II antoninians.

 

Am I correct in guessing that you found it in England? I agree with justus' suggestion.

 

I think it’s a Claudius II CONSECRATIO with eagle on the reverse. I think... the reverse is upside down and you can just barely see the eagles up and left turned head and neck. Can’t tell
If official or imitation. Yes, I have x-ray eyeballs.

If you've never cleaned ancient coins before, just let it soak in distilled water for a few weeks (change the water every few days) and brush it with a toothbrush. If you feel comfortable with it, you can also scrape lightly at areas with firm dirt with a toothpick. It doesn't look like its in good condition but a little clean goes a long way.

 

Seconded. I’m pretty sure there’s something decent underneath!

 

Could try light dabbing of distilled water and then using a toothpick or bamboo piece to try and restore the coin. Ive used the same method for restoring some of mine.
