    Wow.

That's beautiful, and that is also one heck of a strike, even for a 17-P T1.

    Thanks for posting that!

It has a couple of decent hits on it, and I'm going to have to look over my ANA guild, but look at the 'O' in 'OF', and there seems to be some machine doubling in the 'T' and elsewhere. The forward knee seems to have a nick as well.

Oh, it's barely an MS65 :) Good eye spotting that, but I dunno, something about that specific coin really has me all hot and bothered.

Meanwhile this is worse and gets an MS67, but it's a FH 16...

Its the strike. Its the best strike I'd ever seen. That coin you posted though doesn't have any doubling ...

It's an MS63/64 coin struck with 150,000 tons of pressure. Agreed that it's the best struck 1916 I have ever seen. I want both of those coins, I am tempted to see how much I can sell the GF into slavery for :D

The second one, the 1918/7-S is the overdate, but there's what seems to be two dies that created the variety. Something nobody seems to mention either :)

Take a VERY close look at not only the bottom of the "8" in both of these pictures but also take a VERY close look at the position of the mintmark on both of these pictures, look VERY closely, there were 2 Dies, of this I am 95% convinced.

    The better (IMO) die

    Wait!! - You lost me!

The first coin is a 1917 Type 1. Your saying that is a MS63/64? I don't know how much pressure they use to mint a coin so ... I'm really confused !

What 1916! We have 2 1917's The Heritage coin is a 1916. Were switching back and forth! IMO the 1916 is a cleaner strike altogether with no doubling. It looks less detailed but I think the Photo is covering the detail.

You can sell her into slavery but to get a walking liberty with the proceeds might be poetic irony to say the least.

Your gonna sell her because she doesn't match the beauty of Miss Liberty nearly naked in full stride. Your a bad man... ;)

What 17/8 over date? Your flipping coins everywhere now!

Yes - I agree that those are either 2 dyes or a repunched mint mark..but this is a whole nother thread!

no. I need to go back up state in the evening and do some shopping in the morning for a new duffle bag. I don't drive so Jersey is always a challenge anyway without mass transit near by. They have a show in Edison? Treasurehunt is involved in with a show in Mineola out on the Island every Sunday as well and its the same issue. I can take the LIRR out to Mineolla but then I need a cab. Not a tradgety but its not as easy as just hoping in the car and cruzing down the Grand Central. I'm spending so much time up state now that I'll probably have to give in and get another car...but I hate driving and babysitting a vehicle.

I'll tell you what I need though, if you see any dealers that have these for me igve them my contact information. I brought my daughter a Franklin Half folder and I need a bunch of inexpensive AU55 Franklins in a variety of dates to keep her interested. Coins that she can put her fingers on and plug into the Whitman folder.

New topic started and will do on the Franklins! You NEED a Car sir! Mineola looks promising, never been to that show, when's the next one? If all else fails I can gett you a ride I'm sure.

Upstate? Where at? I left Fishkill at 12:15 today, made it back to Jersey by 3pm.. ugh! Be glad you weren't up there today, it got real bad, REAL quick.
