Hey folks I hope all is well with everyone.
I am a Buff collector and my 7 year old granddaughter has taken an interest in coins after watching me "play" with mine. We bought some nic-a-date and have used that on some dateless I bought at a antique mall. Anyone else having fun with this stuff?

Welcome! I bought a bunch of dateless buffs a few years back and instead of going the nic-a-date route, went with the vinegar and salt route. Was able to fill almost an entire album including a few semi-key dates. It was a fun time.

Hi Pippin, Nic-A-date's main component is Ferric Chloride which can cause skin and particularly eye damage, so users should have safety eyewear and gloves.

I did that with my 7 year old son, 20 years ago. We had a great time and found some fun dates.

I too dabble with dateless Buffalo nickels. If you leave Nic-a-date on too long, it will eat the coin away. Discovered this by having a bathroom emergency and leaving it on for a prolonged period of time. LOL :dead:

There are several ways to raise a date on dateless buffalo’s. Years back I used a peroxide and vinegar mixture as I recall. It turns the nickels ghost white but it is still fun. And no matter what you do they are still worth a nickel! Sounds like great fun to have with a granddaughter.

Oh. Bummer. So far a minute and a half has been the sweet spot for us.
