Dark green is nice on this RIC 660 dupondius; draped bust seen from aside is also rare. III Antoninus Pius 0660 Genio Senatus dupondius draped 7-1128.jpg

    (this one looks green)

Oh, here's one of my greenies. It's an unpublished coin (not in CPE) and I have another (non green where it's easier to see the controls.

Just a touch of green …………… more scattered deposits of verdigris than patina.

I have never seen a coin from this time and place before this as yours is with this glossy, green patina. Looks almost like a glass surface, hard and smooth. Almost all of his coins look like someone ran them through a garbage disposal to clean them up.

Patina is the pleasing looking condition of an aged or much worn surface. In the case of metallic objects (such as coins) the coloration is usually the result of some kind of oxidation. The patina on wooden objects (such as old furniture, the stocks of antique firearms, vintage hand tool handles etc.) results from long use or handling after the original finish is applied.
