While I do think the coin has a few minor problems such as a few too many baths and some rim damage I think the coin is legit. I see nothing throwing up flags for me.

thanks Huntsman, the additional images are very helpful, I agree that the areas on the edge are from damage, because now I can see some bulging of the adjacent rim, which would only happen with application of external force. I have a better look at the devices too in the latest photos, and they look ok to me as do the surfaces. I think it's genuine.

    Sparrow,

Thanks for the response! There is something that has been bothering me and want to clarify to you and all of the C.T.'ers as well.

I know that sometimes that I go to extreme troubles to point out what I see good or bad about a coin. I hope that no one here on C.T. as well as yourself, ever gets the feeling that I am trying to slam them, their opinion or their assessment! Although I have to admit that I am somewhat guilty of doing this very thing on occasion but I did so out of frustration with what I believed were absurd postings. All that I am trying to do, is to get folks to see and understand what I see and in the end, I hope that this has helped them in some way! Yes, I make mistakes, wrong assessments and stupid statements and don't mind being corrected when I do so. I just hope that everyone here on C.T. understands that I am trying to help everyone and trying to teach some of the newbies and YN's in this hobby that they have ventured into. That (in most cases) I am not trying to slam someone's opinion or assessment and not trying to alienate them in the forums! If anyone here on C.T. has ever felt this way, then I am truly, truly sorry and hope that if anyone does feel this way, then please bring it to my attention!

    Sincerely...Frank E. Ferrell

1921 Morgan look very different from Morgans of other years, the surface on this Morgan look like a PCGS genuine 1889 cc morgan of mine though

Hello Frank, thanks for your last post above. I really don't feel "slammed," I feel that you cleared things up for me about that coin. I expressed an opinion based on the information I had at hand, you provided more information, and I changed my opinion. I am always grateful for corrections and clarifications, because I come here to share and learn, and I'm the first to admit I am no coin expert! I have sometimes noticed that when I type things out, they may appear to contain an emotional content not intended by me, so I try not to "read anything" into a post that isn't clearly stated. I've really enjoyed this discussion. I also need to correct myself again, although you did it for me earlier-- I meant to say that I was thinking (at first) it was a transfer die copy. I have seen the pits with rounded metal blobs in them on high quality trade dollar copies, presumably caused by bubbles in the transfer medium. Sorry about that, and obviously not the case with the coin under discussion. Best, Charles

Looks good to me. A bit dulled, but not fake as far as I can see.

I don't think the Shroud of Turin has undergone the scrutiny that this coin has. It's understandable though, considering that if it is real it would fetch upwards of $14.37.

LOL! Well, there's a lot of good fakes out there now of everything. Sometimes it's good to have the discussion.

No need to apologize huntsman. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing and having an educated opinion. You've given a reasonable case for it's authenticity.

Interestingly, the average daily wage of a Chinese urban worker is around $14.00 US!
