i have a coin silver in color,dated{1732-1992},front has george washingtons face in gold color reverse has two eagles, gold in color, feet to feet and is printed 250th anniversary but has no denomination on coin can anyone tell me what it is?
It sounds like it's some kind of a privately minted token. But, if you could post a picture...it would be really helpful for us to be more specific.
I was going to give it a try to see if I could find anything, but I noticed right away that the years are only 200 years apart, yet it is for the 250th anniversary? Verify dates and # of years anniversary and I will take a look.
sorry i cannot show a pic thank you for looking.the front of the coin has 1982,the back says 1732-1982. there is also a "w" on the reverse dont know if thats the mint mark or what.
It sounds like it is a token to commemorate the 250th anniversary of George Washington's birth. The US government minted a commemorative silver half dollar in 1982 for this event, but it doesn't match your description. I think yours is some kind of privately minted token. Here is what the US mint commemoriative looked like:
Actaully, there is a listing for this coin on eBay right now... I don't know how to link the auction, but here's how it is listed: 1982 GEORGE WASHINGTON 250TH ANNIVERSARY COIN FRONT SAYS GEORGE WASHINGTON 1982 WITH GEORGE WASHINGTON STAMP, REAR SAYS 250TH ANNIVERSARY 1732-1982 WITH DOUBLE EAGLE STAMP COIN IS APPROX : 1 1/2" ROUND, PLASTIC CASE INCLUDED There's a "buy-it-now" price of $6.00 on this coin, so that should give you a good idea of what yours is worth.
Welcome to the forum. Evidently there were numerous token/medals issued in 1982 besides the mint's halves. Here is a silver plated one on ebay with the seller's personal experience. thanks everyone for all the pictures and help.i also found an uncirculated 1958 double die obverse now i know it is worth something because of the doubling but can anyone give me any ideas of its worth?
Are you talking about a Lincoln cent? If you are, it would be worth probably something between $20,000 and $200,000 and increase the know population by %50. You are going to have to post a pic of that one.
sorry i dont know a lot about coins yet new to it but heres another,i have a lincoln cent dated 1998 on the obverse it has ates stamped and the line goes up and makes a gash in lincolns forhead on the reverse edge it has roosevelts ear stamped in it. any ideas here?
Does the camera have a macro setting? That's what is needed to take close up pics and pretty much any camera these days has it. But, you must hold the camera very still.
thank you yes it does have macro setting but cannot get clesr pic cheap camera polaroid a530 5.0 megapixels is it to little?
You have to hold the camera VERY still. Using the macro setting it is very sensitive to any movement. I typically have to take a number of pictures when photographing coins to get a clear one.
