I have 1 from change that my brother-in-law had.....I'm thinking about selling all of the rolls of State Quarters I have gotten through the last few years and put the money in another coin....

    3 silver Kennedy halves today...

    Hi,

I went into to the bank to deposit a check today. As I watched the teller process my deposit I noticed her coin tray. In the coin tray was about 7 halves. I saw the reeded edges of 3 halves sticking out like sore thumbs. I knew they were 1969 or older! This made me happy. I told her to give me the 3 Kennedy halves that looked different from the rest of them. She said that'll be a $1.50. Paid her with two $1 bills and had a big smile as I walked out of the bank. Two were 1964's! One was a 1968.

Keep in mind I've searched through like $370 worth of halves from this bank and didn't find any silver.

I have 11 silver halves now excluding the ones in my Dansco.

    Nice day for me :)

Speedy only you can decide what's a good idea and what's a bad idea - for you.

Besides, I think you already know my thoughts on the subject now don't ya ?

Well, I don't want to take this thread too off topic but I just don't see how SQ can or will ever go up too much....It seems to me there is a better chance with a 1932-D Quarter than a roll of SQ.

Yes...I think I know what you would say ;)

I found a 1920 and a 1920 s lincoln cent in a bunch of change I looked at for an elderly woman. They were both in Fine condition. Tom

Nothing too terribly exciting today but I did find three cents that I had to bring home and check against my lincoln cents type set. A 1961-D, 1970-S (Looks like another large date), and a 1973-S which filled a hole in my type set.

  11. hello,

i guess i am lucky to have a job in vending where i get to look at thousands of coins a day. this weeks finds include a proof indi sq, a 1943p war nickel, and a 1976 silver clad bicentennial quarter.
i called a friend to tell him about my finds. he calls back later that day and tells me about his sisters find. she works at a local grocery and someone paid for their stuff with 5 2002 silver eagles!!!

    well till next week,

    michael

How did you get the bag??

I see that my dealer sells them but didn't know any banks still had any.

Well, I went in there with my usual plastic bank bag that they give you and didn't have enough room in that bag, so she asked if I needed another bag.
Then went to the back room and came out with us mint bag. Pretty cool!

Do you think I should see if I can get more of them?
    Thanks,
    SM

I would--I know the mint doesn't send out coins like that any more so they are older and the mint was selling some for $10 each...My dad has one that was full of wheat cents....they aren't like coins but they are still a little bit of history to me ;--)

Hadn't seen a California quarter until today. Looked in my pocket change and I had two. Must have been straight from the bank because they were near perfect.

    :) :)
