I picked this up recently and I know it's a rare note. It was described as lightly pressed and cleaned.....though to what degree I don't know.
A curious aspect of the Clydesdale notes as opposed to all the other notes issued in Great Britain and Northern Ireland since the 19th century is that up until about 1950 they were all printed in house in the bank's headquarters and were not printed by specialty printers though the plates etc were prepared by out sourced printers. £20 was a rather princely sum even in 1944. As a collector of British and Irish notes myself I really appreciate Scots notes for their usage of multi-colour printings as opposed to the plain black English banknotes with very plain designs and not much engraving - ie most English and a lot of Irish notes were very similar to the plain Bank of England design that originated during the Napoleonic wars and continued until the "Britannia and Lion and Key" £5 was released in 1956.
