I received these Chinese coins in the mail today and I was wondering if I made the correct ID for them both.

    A: 1889 machine struck Kuang T'ung
B: Coin of emperor Kao Tsung, AD 1736-1795. Manchu Yuwan - Board of Public Works, Peking.

    Thank you.

Not sure what it is but it is not the coin Ardatrion linked to. Although the obverses ares similar, the reverses are totally different.

Jetsetter's coin reads the same on both sides even though the characters don't all look similar. In Japanese the reading (top, bottom, right, left) is "Kan Ryu Tsu Ho". I believe the Chinese reading for the last two characters is "Tong Bao", but I have no idea what the Chinese reading is for the first two.

The Guandong coin reads (in Japanese) "Ko O Tsu Ho" on the obverse, and "Kohei 1 sen Ko ???" on the reverse. The unknown last character is Manchu. "Sen" can be translated as "money" as well as being a small denomination.

Did I screw that one up? I'm still teaching myself these, my bad.

In case the link came out wrong, this is what I meant to post:

The Manchurian character on the second coin is Gung. This is used on Qing coins to indicate the Gongchang, Gansu mint. The top left character is Ping which means calm or peaceful I think. This is probably an amulet or charm, not a coin. Looks modern.

The reverse of the Qian Long Tong Bao cash coin is Boo Yuwan (Board of Works) not Boo Chiowan (Board of Revenue). Looks like a Hartill 22.254 (1754-60) or 22.256 (1768-73)

Oops! I was wrong about the Guang Xu coin - it is a coin, not an amulet. At least I identified the Gung and Ping characters correctly.
