When you collected as many years as I have at some point ,you branch off in another direction. Perhasp another series, love tokens, medals.... paper....etc.
Now a few things can and do happen, loss of interest in collecting them any longer, they got lost in one of the many safety deposit boxs,or home vaults.
Now I am one for moving on....after the loss of interest, making the item available to another collector who's interest is focused on their collection.
However....for one or more reasons....just liked the piece enough that you just kept it.
A Remnant of a longe gone sub set....collection pops up!

This is your thread.....lets see your Remnant pieces and hear their stories. 1598702014799_20200829_074758.jpg 20200829_074821.jpg

For a few years I had an interest in the pony express....the history is so interesting.
There are lots of medals, tokens one can collect.....including a 5 oz silver puck.
This heraloic art medal #1564 in .925 silver has always been a favorite....it is still in the orginial envelope.

2010 cc minted on the old Carson City press #1

Now this was an internet find following up on the history of the Pony Express.
These medals were struck by demand, you ordered them and the 3rd Thursday of the month they would be minted on the old #1 press Carson City. With a limited of 2010 /547 is this medals number.
Again another piece of an old sub set of Pony Express history.

Post your Remnant specimens... and their story too.

    Interesting theme.
But I can't think of anything in the coins/tokens/medals categories that I started and didn't continue.
But I'm sure there were some that never got out of the idea stage.

Most collections like this happened in my stamps/cinderellas collecting time in the 80's.
Thanks to the Hunt brothers I was out of coin collecting during that decade.
And now material like that is hard to get rid of; I'm still trying.

That would be another good theme... those who never let go of anything...
And I do understand both arguments on keeping something or letting go....
I do admire people who keep everything, as a young collector I kept everything.
IDK just got to a point where it was time to let go.
Has there been items I wish I never parted with damn skippy... but it always seem sooner or later something else pops up. $(KGrHqFHJCcE-ffTjhSNBPss+uuRmQ--60_12 61012 o-crop-crop.jpg $(KGrHqJ,!joE-msMp+hrBPss+vq(i!--60_12 61012 r-crop-crop.jpg
    Here is one for sure...
