Here is a neat little error I picked up. Note: the top is the stretched off center showin zinc core, while the bottom is a regular off center.
Hi Pennycase For some reason the pic doesnt show up on my computer, I would like to see the coin !! Ok that was strange but the pic is there now!!! and I triple the cool rating !!!! Either way cool find . Rick
Eh, sadly I had to pay for these lol.... But, they were put together by Mr.Fred ( can't spell his last name ) weinburg? reinburg? somethin along those lines... He has some pretty nice stuff. BTW, they were takin out of a neat display thingy, I couldn't display it in my album though so it had to go You can't see it in the pic, but the stretched O/C , the blank part looks like the end of a spoon, has that same kind of dipping effect, pretty neato.
The effect you're seeing is pretty common on off-center cents. Zinc exposure would be due to at least two factors: 1) Thinner-than-normal plating, 2) Minimum die distance smaller than average, resulting in more expansion of the struck area.
2) Minimum die distance smaller than average, resulting in more expansion of the struck area. Yup... thus why it's called a "stretched" off center...
