    picked this up from recent Stack's event.

    Francois I of France

    Francois I waged many wars vs his periennial enemy/ Karl V/ the Holy Roman Emperor. He ended up on the loosing end in most battles, the coup de grace came in 1525 at Pavia. In this climatic battle for Italy, the German/ Spanish army of the Emperor crushed the French.

    Lovely! I used to own a Francis I ecu d'or (raw Choice AU), but I swapped it for a fancy underwater metal detector years ago. Wish I still had it.

    Mine was ecu d'or au soleil, so a different type.

    I just got a biography of Francis I in audiobook format. Only just started listening to it. The Audible app will let me share a copy of that with you if you like. Just PM me if you want it.
