Yes, I believe so. The coins look identical except that the 2 states 2R instead of 8R and it is a smaller coin. The 2R is usually only offered in lower grades. If you find a nice example, then I believe you have found something special. Very best regards, collect89
I actually have a heavily worn coin from the Central American Republic. It is a "1/4 G" with the date of 1831. What would the "G" stand for?
G for Guatemala City? Hello Jetsetter, Welcome to CoinTalk. If you could post a photo or a scan of the coin, then I think several of the other CoinTalk people will be able to provide information. I do not know of a denomination 1/4 G except for maybe some coins from The Netherlands & their different territories. If it is a Central American coin, then the G might stand for the mint at Guatemala City. The mint mark was G but I think the G is on the Legend. This city was destroyed by an earthquake in the mid 1800s and the later mint mark was NG for New Guatemala. Start a new thread & post a picture of your coin! Very best regards, collect89
